The rainbow is one of the most fascinating events that takes place in the sky, because people love the rainbow colors and the way they look in contrast with the sky blue. While rainbow colors are very popular, you should know that there is a simple explanation of why we can actually see them. Moreover, you should also know that there are some factors that influence when can we actually see the rainbow colors as well. First, let’s start with explaining why we can see the rainbow colors. Well, sunlight passes through water droplets. As a result, it is bend and then split into the rainbow colors.

Sunlight converts into a mixture of all visible colors, because it breaks into the seven colors of the spectrum, which are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. We can actually see the rainbow colors because of the photopigments in the human eye and due to the refraction and reflection of light rays in raindrops. As you can see, it is all about physics. We will be able to see the rainbow colors only if the sun is shining, if the sun is behind us and if there are water drops in the sky in front of us. In order to see all the rainbow colors, there must be many water drops, because each drop reflects a single color of light.

This is why whenever it is raining, and the sun comes up, we get to see the beautiful rainbow colors. Then, if waterfalls and fountains are nearby, the chances of seeing the rainbow colors will increase. Moreover, the rainbow colors can actually be artificially created, if during a sunny day, water droplets will be dispersed into the air. No matter the scientific details though, the truth is that people will always enjoy seeing the rainbow colors in the sky, whenever they get the chance, and they can definitely brighten our day.
